Raphael is God's healer angel, mostly present and known in the Book of Tobit, he acts as a walking partner to Tobias, Tobit’s son( the walking stick is a common symbol in Raphael paintings). Tobit is blind and Tobias catches a fish on their journey. Raphael saves the gall of the fish, and this heals Tobit's blindness. Hence, Raphael is often depicted with a fish.
To the right of Raphael's wing is an impression of a little spring or pool. In the Gospel of John Chapter 5, Jesus heals a man at the Pool of Bethesda in Jerusalem which means House of Mercy. This pool is known to stir or bubble up. The movement of the water is attributed to Raphael, though he is not named explicitly. It makes sense as he is the healing angel. Healing and the predominant color, green, go hand in hand.
